MILITARY ORDER OF DEVIL DOGS

DEVIL DOG'S CREED

I am an American; I was born in France. I have held the title of United States Marine, and understand the commitment of holding the title, Devil Dog. It is a tradition born at Belleau Wood in the year 1918, of a force in readiness and the "First to Fight". As a Devil Dog, I ask no quarter and give no quarter. I will do everything in my power to uphold the objectives of the Military Order of Devil Dogs and to carry out my duties to a swift and satisfactory completion.

DEGREES of THE ORDER

Pedigree Devil Dog (PDD) Highest degree and wears a gold ribbon.

Devil Dog (DD) Second degree of The Order and wears a red ribbon.

Pup (PUP) First degree of The Order and wears a black ribbon.

Stray is a Dog without the benefits of a Pound usually a Member at Large.

Mongrel is an outstanding Marine Corps Leaguer who is not a member of The Order.

Each degree requires another initiation at the higher level; Pound creates Pups; Pack elevates to Devil Dog; only The Kennel confers Pedigrees.

Worn on the appropriate Dog Tag. Dog Tags are silver. Present and Past Kennel Officers wear Gold Dog Tags. Past Chief Devil Dogs (PCDD), who are similar to Past National Commandants, wear a tricolor ribbon (black, red, gold) and a gold medalion. The ribbon and Dog Tag is known as a "collar".

All dogs in good standing may wear their collar with the Marine Corps League uniform.
